A recent survey done by Coldwell Banker asking Americans about their experience with the smart home agreed with our observations. For starters, they discovered about 28% already own some kind of smart home product, and 81% of current smart home device owners say they would be more willing to buy a home with connected technology. Right now, 47% of millennials own smart products, while parents with kids in the home under the age of 18, buy smart home products at higher rates than the average American. These statistics tell us this trend is only going to grow. We’re predicting the Multiple Listing Services will soon allow realtors to identify and search for smart homes, as it will become a common desire on homebuyers wish lists.
So what exactly makes a home smart? This concept is always changing and evolving while the industry is searching for the right way to define it.
